Pharmacologically Active Secondary Metabolites from Psoralea corylifolia

Psoralea corylifolia has gained much attention, particularly in the cosmetic industry for past few years owing to promising pharmacological activities of its metabolites. Seeds P. are main source bakuchiol, a meroterpene compound that is extensively harnessed numerous skincare products. Furanocoumarins, psoralen and isopsoralen other metabolites mainly from seeds known their antipsoriatic activity. Moreover, various studies have reported several classes secondary this plant possessing diverse biological activities. This article highlights recent updates on phytoconstituents based scientific publications during last 10 (2011-2021). The literature search was carried out through scientific-based websites databases such as Google Scholar, NCBI, PubMed. paper included sixty-three bioactive years, belonging group flavonoids, meroterpenes, furanocoumarins, coumestans, steroid phenolic compounds. These displayed broad range bioactivities including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antidiabetic, controlling obesity, hepatoprotective cytotoxicity.
